Le titre Géoportrait contracte les mots « géographie » et « autoportrait », et désigne une structure qui se développe en nous à mesure que nous traversons l’espace. Le thème de l’exposition provient de l’observation du va-et-vient des identités confondues et de l’expérience de la migration.
En juxtaposant les peintures de trois séries (L’envers étroit de la distance, Habiter, Mille nuits), l’exposition évoque les destinées humaines, la complexité politique du monde, la réalité des différences, l’impossible appropriation du territoire. Elle cherche à dresser le portrait d’un monde contemporain où la figure humaine est absente, mais qu’on saisit dans sa volonté d’habiter, d’imaginer, de situer.

The title Geoportrait is a term that combines « geography » and « self-portrait ». It describes the way that individual identity is shaped by our relationship to space. The theme of the exhibition comes from the observation of this back and forth between crowds of confused identities and from the experience of migration.
By juxtaposing the paintings of three series the exhibition evokes immigration, but above all human destinies, the political complexity of the world, the reality of differences, the impossible appropriation of territory. It seeks to draw a portrait of a contemporary world where the human figure is absent, but which we grasp in its desire to inhabit, to imagine, to locate.
